When you are labradoodle puppy training and they misbehave, sometimes it isn’t always easy to break them of a bad habit they have seemed to form. It can be very frustrating when you are trying to correct a behavior and despite your efforts, your pooch doesn’t seem to be getting the message. If this is a problem you are dealing with, you may be able to resolve the issue by first determining the root cause.
It can be very difficult to fix a problem if you don’t know what the cause is. For instance, if you doodle is destroying something in your home, such as chewing up your belongings, getting into the garbage, etc. this may be the result of destructive behavior, boredom or even separation anxiety. Since it can be the result of more than one issue, it is first prudent to discover the cause, because the type of training labradoodles approach to correct the behavior will differ, as giving him more attention won’t stop him from chewing if the problem is linked to separation anxiety.
Using destructive chewing as an example, in order to stop your pet from wrecking all of your stuff, take the time to observe the situation when he engages in this behavior. Find answers to the following questions so yourv labradoodle puppy training can become more effective and easier:
- Are there certain items he seems to target (i.e. shoes, kids’ toys, furniture, etc.)?
- Does he only go after the belongings of one person in the household?
- Was he exercised before the destruction occurred?
- How much attention have you given him that day?
- Is he left by himself frequently?
- Does most of his chewing occur when you are at home, when you are out or does it happen regardless of your presence?
By answering these questions you can then make an educated guess as to what the problem is and begin the process of elimination. Start with the more likely issue first. For instance, if much of your dog’s destructive chewing behaviors are occurring while you are out, chances are he is suffering from separation anxiety. Therefore, you will want to begin training labradoodles using proper methods to relieve this condition.
